Yellow Fever

In this film, filmmaker Ng’endo Mukii focuses on African women’s self-image, through memories and interviews; using mixed media to describe this almost schizophrenic self-visualization that she and many others have grown up with.

Going nowhere 2

Going Nowhere 2 presents a walk through a landscape at the bottom of the Adriatic Sea. A figure dressed in jeans and a white shirt walks purposefully away from the camera and steps laboriously through a landscape of fish, rocks and watery light until he disappears into the murky distance. A series of shots capture the figure travelling on his journey through this parallel universe – how is he able to walk 10 meters beneath the surface of the sea or where he is going is not clear, but he seems to have an objective or path that he is following.

In this travelogue I wonder by way of drawing a section of a photograph of Maastricht, what the concept dimension could mean. The film shows an investigation where a thinking and making is happening. I invite in the end the spectator to think further about the dimension in between the projection and the place where s/he sits.

Staging Silence (2)

Staging Silence (2) refers to the game of reality and appearance which characterizes the tableau vivant, the diorama and the puppet theatre. The result is the opposite of a still life: in a space of permanent metamorphosis there is no more room for death, nothingness, the void, stasis, an ending.

Felix en Exile

“Felix in Exile” tells the story of the protagonist, Soho Eckstein, and his search for his missing wife, Felix Teitelbaum, in a dystopian landscape. The film captures the complex and often painful process of reconciliation and rebuilding that South Africa underwent after the dismantling of apartheid.
